No, we’re not seeing any problems launching Vine Server 3.0 on Mac OS X 10.4.11.

Can you please try getting a fresh download directly to the computer you are trying to run it on and see if you get any different results?

I have the same issue. I’m running Leopard 10.5.2. I can’t start the vine viewer.app and I can’t kill the osxvnc-server (keeps coming back). I’ve deleted the .app out of my applications folder and re-downloaded, but still same issue. How do I get rid of osxvnc-server? I started the system server through the app gui and rebooted… now i can’t open the app gui to stop the system server… i’ve checked /library/startupitems and osxvnc-server isn’t in there… please help.

it was in Library/Apllication Support folder… i’m new to mac and didn’t know stuff got installed there… drug it to the trash and stopped the process with activity monitor then emptied trash… gone… thanks

I tried 3.1 beta and still crashes at startup… any files that could be left over from previous install that is causing this. v3.0 worked orginally until i messed with the system server setting…

nevermind, i found the last leftover file that seemed to be causing the crash when vinevnc server would start… it was a pref file in the users/ folder … i think… can’t remember exactly… i did a search for vine on the entire harddrive to find it… workin well now…

I treid the new Beta, and it is still crashing. I noticed when i reinstalled OSX from DVD (10.4) vine server 3.0 worked. After I installed all the security upates, it crashed at the start like i mentioned before, same for 3.1 Beta

Same issues. The only thing I’ve done recently is installed Parallels. And that didn’t go completely smooth unfortunately but in the end works fine now. But that’s all I can think of that may be causing an issue. I’ve included the problem report and system information in the attached file, was a little long to paste here.

Try removing your preference file as mrsco did, it would be com.redstonesoftware.VineServer.plist (probably in the Library/Preferences folder of the user starting Vine).

I have the same problem with Vine Server (Version 3.0, 3.1 Beta 1 and 3.1 Beta 2);

All the time I get the exception NSInternalInconsistencyException.

before I install VineServe I delete

the program folder
I remove the file Users//Library/Preferences/com.redstonesoftware.VineServer.plist

is there anything else I should delete ?

It looks like your Application package isn’t complete. It has bad links to the Jaguar and Tiger bundles. Sometimes this can happen if you unpack it on one machine and then move it. Please download a fresh copy directly to your machine and unpack it there.

I made a freshh download from your website. the I’ve mounted the dmg-file and copied the Vine-Server in the application folder. it has no effect. the exception is still coming.
is there a way to remove the bad links manually?

I’m getting the same issue on a reinstalled machine with 10.5.6. Is there some incompatibility with this new version of OSX and Vine Server?

If the links within the application wrapper are corrupted then you should just download a fresh copy of the application.

I can verify that Vine Server 3.0 continues to work on 10.5.6. What error exactly are you having trying to launch the server.

I am having the same problem. Vine Server ran just fine until last week when I upgraded Parallels Desktop from v3 to v4.

I got a kernel panic during the installation of the Parallel’s upgrade. When I restarted my iMac (20",2.66) I was able complete the installation, but ever since then, Vine Server crashes everytime I try to start it. I have tried to install a fresh copy , erased the preference file, even restored files from my back-up, but Vine Server just refuses to run. Could it be a problem with Parallels?

That’s a possibility, although nobody else has reported it and we have some of our own users running parallels (but maybe not v4).

Are any other users running Parallels version 4?
