Setting up the VineVNC

Hi,
If my question has already been answered please direct me to that post. I apologize in advance if it is really basic. I’m trying to get started with this type of testing- access to a VNC.

I’m not 100% sure how to set up a VNC. I have Mac OSX 10.9.5. I connect from my laptop wirelessly to an AT&T Uverse router. Here are my questions.

  1. I believe I need to set up port-forwarding on the AT&T router to have access to ports 5900-5909, is that correct?

  2. When that is configured, what IP address do I use for “Server (IP address, host name)” field? Right now in the VineServer preferences all I see are the internal IP addresses, i.e., 192.168.1.xxx

If you are using port forwarding, simply use your public IP address and the packets received there will be forwarded to your network node.
