how to open serial communication ports (windows platform)

How can I open the serial communication port from USB from Egg Plant scripts. I saw only open socket command. But my requirement is i need to control a device which can be serially communicated viwa RS232 from USB ports.

I can use Hypertreminal or Putty software to control these ports but i want do via eggplant.

Platform : Windows.

I really don’t understand this question or what you are trying to achieve. The “open socket” command is how you open communication on a port, but I think you’ll find what you are trying to do extremely difficult to achieve on Windows with eggPlant.
