Connection Help again please

I am a little farther in the effort to connect to my mom’s WinME machine from my MacBook Pro using TightVNC on her end thru a Speedstream-4200 DSL modem and for testing, no firewall … port forwarding is on for 5500-6000 on both hers and mine.

I run Vine-Viewer and these are the packets … never get connected … have the password typed in but seems Vine-Viewer never sends it just a Fin-Ack
Sorry about the Wrap here:

192.168.254.1 moms.ip.xxx.x TCP 50266 > 5900 [SYN] Seq=0 Len=0 MSS=1460 WS=0 TSV=1105510715 TSER=0
moms.ip.xxx.x 192.168.254.1 TCP 5900 > 50266 [SYN, ACK] Seq=0 Ack=1 Win=11680 Len=0 MSS=1452 WS=0
moms.ip.xxx.x 192.168.254.1 VNC Authentication challenge from server
192.168.254.1 moms.ip.xxx.x TCP 50266 > 5900 [ACK] Seq=13 Ack=56 Win=65535 Len=0
192.168.254.1 moms.ip.xxx.x TCP 50266 > 5900 [FIN, ACK] Seq=13 Ack=56 Win=65535 Len=0

I’m not sure exactly why it’s looking like that in the packet trace but I am sure that we connect fine to TightVNC. You should really only need to setup the port fowarding on the server side (Moms). It’s possible that a software level firewall on the Windows machine is interceeding.

thanks for the reply, I relly want this to work so I can quit driving there.

No firewall on either end for my testing … of this I am absolutely certain.

I can run Vine-Server on my Mac then connect to it with any number of “Viewers” obviously including the one I want to buy, Vine-Viewer …

I was hoping the packet capture would have a fingerprint that someone would recognise aas the culprit … likely I have something set up incorrectly. I have but a few days left on the “trial” and I am getting antsy about making it work.
