4.01 server crashes immediately after login

Hi Guys,

I’m running 10.8.5 and Vine 4.0.1 at home on my iMac 24". (early Core2Duo Model…) I have reproduced this issue both with UltraVNC and then Vine Client, coming from a Windows or another OSX 10.8.5 machine.

The Vine server does work, but I can get days when I simply cannot login to the machine remotely, because the process simply bombs out. I have tried re-installing Vine server and it has made no difference. Even went as far as trying some commercial alternatives, like Teamviewer and Logmein, but they worked even less!

The issue is as follows.

1 - I load the VNC Client and try to connect.
2 - Client reports that connection is refused by server
3 - If I login remotely into my machine via SSH and monitor the /var/log/system.log file, I see the following flash by whilst I try to login:

Sep 20 11:23:18 Michels-iMac.local OSXvnc-server[3385]: Loaded 239 (0002)
Sep 20 11:23:18 Michels-iMac.local OSXvnc-server[3385]: Loaded 240 (0002)
Sep 20 11:23:18 Michels-iMac.local OSXvnc-server[3385]: *** process 3385 exceeded 500 log message per second limit - remaining messages this second discarded ***
Sep 20 11:23:19 Michels-iMac.local OSXvnc-server[3385]: Loaded 245 (0012)
Sep 20 11:23:19 Michels-iMac.local OSXvnc-server[3385]: Loaded 246 (0012)
Sep 20 11:23:19 Michels-iMac.local OSXvnc-server[3385]: Loaded 247 (0012)

4 - The system log also reports that a crash report was generated.
5 - The Vine service restarts. I know it is doing this, because the PID changes.
6 - Crash report attached.

Can you help?
