ssh tunnel,vnc and port forwarding

I have the new airport extreme base station(dual band) I know I need to port forward 5900 and ssh 22. I need help with this portion. Am I correct in assuming that if I use VNC viewer to connect, it will use port 22 to tunnel to the server or do I need to do some stuff in terminal

If you are using SSH you ONLY need to forward port 22. If you are not you only need to forward your VNC port (default of 5900).

You are correct that if you use Vine Viewer you do not need to go to the terminal just check the SSH box and fill out your credentials.
