port 5900 and Norton

I have an IMac that I can’t seem to find with Vine viewer. I can find all the rest of my computer but not the IMac. Also the Imac can use the viewer to see all the rest of the computers. I think it’s because I had Norton Firewall on the IMac. And it closed port 5900. Looking at the logs, it says how the IMac IP address denies another IP address. I was wondering if someone knew of a way to reset or open up port 5900.

I’m not specifically familiar with Norton Firewall, but if you’re still running it I would check its documentation to see how to open up that port.

If Norton is no longer running, but it had turned on the built-in firewall, you can easily open ports for VNC from System Preferences. In Mac OS X 10.4, go to System Preferences > Sharing > Firewall tab, then click the “New…” button and select “VNC” from the popup list.

I hope that helps.

Thanks for your help. I didn’t know about specifying ports. That did help.
