I was told that eggPlant checks for a valid license at the start up of the program and then periodically throughout the run of the program. I want to avoid having the computer on any network for my purposes. Does the license get checked via web or is it something that is loaded onto the local machine?
If you have a Node-Locked License, then the check never leaves your computer. (It is inherent in the eggPlant application on the local machine).
If you have a Team License (aka Floating License) then the check is done to an internal machine (in your network) that you designate as the Team License Server.
At no point does eggPlant need to reach the public internet (or any TestPlant servers) to validate it’s license.
